1. Introduction
Preachly (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a subscription-based Christian engagement app using AI-powered tools to help users explore scripture, access faith-based guidance, and save personalized content. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect information you provide when using the App.
2. Who can use Preachly
Preachly is intended for users aged 13 and older. Users aged 13–17 may use the App with parental permission. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
3. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: email, authentication identifiers (Apple Sign In, Google Sign In, or Firebase-managed email/password). Passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text by us.
- Profile information: optional name, date of birth, denomination selection, preferred Bible version, and an optional profile photo uploaded by you.
- User content & AI interactions: messages you enter into the chat, search queries, saved “Inspired Answers”, notes and any content you voluntarily provide. Chat history is retained indefinitely unless you delete it in-app or request removal (see Your Rights).
- Subscription & billing metadata: plan type, trial status, renewal history (handled through RevenueCat and the App Store; we do not receive raw credit card numbers).
- Device & usage data: device model, OS version, app version, IP address (approximate region), crash logs, and usage analytics (via Firebase and other providers).
4. How we use your information
- Provide and operate App features (generate AI responses, save history, personalize content).
- Authenticate accounts and keep them secure.
- Manage subscriptions and free trial activation.
- Improve and develop the App through analytics and diagnostics.
- Send functional notifications (reminders, saved answer alerts) and app-related marketing notifications (you may opt out).
- Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Service.
5. AI features and third-party processing
When you use AI features, your messages are transmitted to OpenAI for processing. We send only the information necessary to generate a response (your message, relevant context such as your preferred Bible version, and technical metadata). We do not sell your chat content.
Important: OpenAI will not use Preachly user data to train their models.
6. Where your data is stored and who we share it with
Your data is stored and processed by our trusted service providers:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication and analytics
- RevenueCat — subscription management and metadata
- DigitalOcean — app infrastructure and secure storage
- OpenAI — AI processing of chat messages
We may disclose data to comply with legal obligations or to protect rights and safety, but we do not sell personal data to third parties.
7. Data retention
- Chat history and AI interactions: retained indefinitely unless deleted in-app or removed on request by contacting info@preachly.app.
- Account and profile data: retained while your account exists.
- Subscription records and financial metadata: retained as required for legal and accounting obligations.
8. Your rights & choices
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting info@preachly.app. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel App Store subscriptions — subscription cancellations must be done through your Apple account. You may opt out of marketing notifications in the app settings.
9. Cookies & tracking
We use limited analytics tracking (Firebase) to measure performance and improve the App. We do not use third-party advertising cookies for ad targeting.
10. International transfers
Your data may be processed in Canada, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate. We take reasonable safeguards appropriate to the processing location.
11. Children’s privacy
Preachly is not intended for children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, contact us and we will remove it.
12. Security
We use industry standard measures (encryption in transit, secure hosting, access controls) to protect your data. No system is completely secure, but we work to minimize risks.
13. Sharing content externally
If you share content from Preachly to social media or messaging, the shared file will include a Preachly-branded thumbnail or logo and cannot be modified inside the app. Sharing outside the app is subject to the destination platform’s policies.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via the App or email where required. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
